Practical answers for broadcast and localisation teams. Managed services, live delivery and self-managed tools.

Getting started.

Choose the service model, share your brief and understand how we can work with your team.

  • Managed services or self-managed tools?

Choose managed services when you want Linearis to produce and deliver the language assets. Choose the subtitling platform when your own team will edit, review and approve the work. You can also combine them: keep production in-house and use Linearis for selected languages, specialist stages or overflow.

  • Can we offer Linearis services under our own brand?

Yes, we can scope a white-label service or technology setup for media-services and playout providers. Your team keeps the client relationship. We agree responsibilities, communication, approval and delivery requirements around the channels and customers you serve.

  • What do you need to scope a project or ongoing workflow?

Share the content type, hours or minutes, source and target languages, delivery dates and destination specifications. Include available scripts or subtitle files, the current edit, your style guide and the steps your team already handles. For live work, add the programme schedule, concurrent feeds and production contact.

  • How do you confirm languages, capacity and turnaround?

We review the language pairs, content, production volume, source quality and delivery requirements before confirming a schedule. For recurring work, share your catalogue plan, release cadence or sports calendar so capacity can be planned around the dates that matter.

Media services.

Find the right language output, from subtitles and captions to dubbing and expert refinement.

  • What is the difference between subtitles, captions and SDH?

Subtitles translate dialogue into another language. Same-language captions represent speech as text. SDH adds information that deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers may need, such as speaker identification and relevant sound cues. We agree the audience, presentation and delivery specification before preparing the files.

  • How do AI dubbing and AI voiceover differ?

AI dubbing creates another spoken-language version, with script adaptation and voice delivery reviewed against the picture. AI voiceover adds narration or translated speech where that approach suits the programme. We agree the voice approach, pacing, original-audio balance and review requirements for your content.

  • Where does expert refinement fit into the process?

Specialists refine the draft where language and presentation need judgement: meaning, terminology, readability, pronunciation, pacing and timing. The review stages are agreed for the service you order. Automated output and technical checks support the work; the delivery brief defines what must be reviewed and approved.

  • Can you take on only part of our production or overflow?

Yes. Linearis can handle complete titles or selected stages such as translation, SDH, voice production, timing, QC, conform or delivery preparation. Tell us what is already approved, what remains with your team and where the assets need to return. This also helps us scope recurring overflow across channels or catalogues.

Subtitling platform.

See how your team can manage subtitling, collaborate and work alongside existing tools.

  • What can our team do in the self-managed platform?

Create AI transcripts, edit subtitle cues on a timeline, translate with surrounding context, manage terminology and language versions, resync after edits, merge timed assets, run configurable QA and export subtitle files. Shared projects and vendor assignments help organise the people working on each language.

  • Can it work alongside our current subtitle editor?

Yes. Use the platform for the stages that help your team, then return the files to your existing workflow. SRT import and SRT, WebVTT or EBU STL export support file-based handovers. Check your required formats and review process before deciding whether it complements or replaces your current editor.

  • Can in-house editors and external translators work together?

The platform supports shared organisation projects and language-version assignments to vendors. Each vendor receives a working copy. One person edits a file at a time, while others can follow it live in read-only mode, helping prevent conflicting edits.

  • What does our team remain responsible for?

Your team refines the language and timing, maintains the term base, reviews QA warnings and approves the final version. AI provides drafts and editing assistance. You decide which steps stay in-house and whether a Linearis managed service should support any part of the workflow.

Live services.

Plan live text and voice for your programme, production setup and audience.

  • Should we use live captions, subtitles or voiceover?

Use live captions for same-language text, live subtitles for translated text and live voiceover for another spoken language. You can combine them around the audience and destination. For example, a sports stream may need same-language captions for access and translated speech for another market.

  • Can live language output join our existing streaming setup?

We scope the connection around your programme audio, production chain and destinations. Text or translated voice returns through the agreed route. Streams on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Kick, Twitch and Vimeo can use the output through the production setup, subject to each platform's ingest and account capabilities. Instagram requires eligible Live Producer access.

  • How much delay do live subtitles and voiceover add?

There is no single timing figure for every workflow. Source audio, language pairs, translation, voice generation and the delivery chain all affect the result. We agree a timing budget and rehearse the full path, checking the balance between video delay and when the language reaches the viewer.

  • How do you prepare for sports, names and changing live content?

Provide team rosters, names, abbreviations, specialist terminology and expected language changes ahead of the programme. Use a clear speech feed and identify who monitors output. During rehearsal, agree escalation responsibilities and any human oversight needed for the content.

Files & delivery.

Prepare source files, agree specifications and keep every language version ready for handover.

  • Which files and delivery specifications can we use?

Send the receiving platform or playout specification with your brief. Managed delivery is agreed around the required subtitle, caption and audio files, naming and version structure. The self-managed platform supports SRT import and SRT, WebVTT and EBU STL export. Live text and audio routes are confirmed separately for the encoder, packager and player involved.

  • What does QC & compliance cover?

The agreed checks can cover language, timing, readability, terminology, file structure, audio and accessibility requirements. We report issues and prepare corrections against the specifications in scope. A technical file check and an editorial review serve different purposes, so the brief should state the standards, checks and final approval your team needs.

  • What happens if the picture edit changes or we need a replay?

Share the revised cut, the change information and the approved language assets. Conform and versioning update timing and affected sections against the correct picture. For a live replay or highlights package, include capture, expert refinement, retiming and on-demand file delivery in the brief.

  • How should we handle confidential or pre-release media?

Tell us your security requirements before transferring assets. Agree the transfer method, authorised users, retention and deletion needs, and any NDA requirements for the work. For a platform workflow, include storage and access requirements in your evaluation so the setup is reviewed against your organisation's policies.
